Curried liver and potatoes (Tsarvan Olu)

Heat the oil in a heavy-bottomed pot. Add the liver, potatoes, tomatoes, cloves, asafoetida, and salt.

1   INGREDIENTS
  • Liver(cut into 1 inch cubes) 500 g
  • Vegetable oil 4 tbsp
  • Potatoes(cut into 1 inch cubes) 250 g
  • Tomatoes(finely chopped) 100 g
  • Laung 4 Cloves
  • Asafoetida (hing) a pinch
  • Salt to taste
  • Red chilli powder 1 tsp
  • Water 1 cup
  • Ginger powder (sonth) 1 tsp
  • Aniseed (saunf) powder 2 tsp
  • Green chillies 2
2   COOKING DIRECTIONS
  1. Heat the oil in a heavy-bottomed pot.
  2. Add the liver, potatoes, tomatoes, cloves, asafoetida, and salt.
  3. Cook, stirring occasionally, till the liquid dries and the oil separates.
  4. Mix the red chilli powder in a little water and add to the liver.
  5. Stir for a few seconds, then add the remaining water and bring to the boil.
  6. Put in the ginger powder, aniseed powder, and green chillies.
  7. Cook till the gravy thickens a little. Serve hot.
